On Friday the 5th of July we had an inset day (Staff training day).
During the day all staff members took part in Fire Marshall training .
The staff gained a great deal of knowledge and now feel very confident, should they ever be placed in a fire incident.
The trainer was extremely thorough and detailed , giving all staff the required skills and guidance to make them competent with the current regulations.
It is extremely important that we are all fire trained. The staff are all aware on evacuation procedures and understand the importance of acting promptly if a fire was to occur.
We have decided to get the children involved in our daily fire checks. We will be appointing a child on a weekly basis to be a mini Fire Marshall , where they will assist management with the daily checks. They will have a little hard hat, high vis vest and a clipboard, so they really embrace the role. We think this will be great for confidence building in the children , and teach them about health and safety and responsibility . We also feel that they will really enjoy this and feel a sense of pride when their turn comes around.
The staff were taught how to use fire extinguishers , which also made the training fun and interactive.
