Topic of the Month
This month the preschool children have been focusing on fairy tales. This week they have focused on the story of ‘Jack and the beanstalk’.
The children worked together as a group to create a bean stalk, using junk modelling, which the practitioner then put each child’s photo on, representing them climbing up the bean stalk. The children really enjoyed this activity, getting creative, seeing there beanstalk come to life!
The children also had lots of fun acting out the story as a narrative, running around the garden using their imagination to find and climb the bean stalk, shouting out quotes from the story that they could remember, O and don’t forget running away from that nasty giant!
The children then grow their own beanstalk which they have been amazed watching the tiny bean grow into a giant beanstalk. This has also taught them the life cycle of a plant, and how life can’t start from a seed or in this case a bean.
The pre-school will be continuing with this topic for the following two weeks. Keep posted to see what exciting things they work on next !
