World Book Day!
On Thursday the 5th of March We celebrated world book day. The children had an amazing day dressing as their favourite book characters and sharing their favourite books from home.
As a nursery we enjoyed rein acting the story of ‘The Tiger who came to tea’. After reading the story during circle time the children then went off and had snack time where they made their own sandwiches, cut their own fruits, eating different snacks that the tiger had eaten in the story, they then shared parts of the story that they enjoyed during table time conversation.
Celebrating books is a great way to encourage children to appreciate reading and come together sharing books and experiences that they truly enjoy. It is a great way for children to explore the pleasures of books by reading and providing them with the opportunity to share a book of their own. Also by the children dressing up and getting into character they will then be thinking about the characters during role play experiences acting out different scenes from their books.
The children and staff all made a huge effort and I do feel it was a fun filled day full of learning and laughter.
